This article has been prepared to help especially those involved in the promotion and development of Digital Cyprus understand how Digital Cyprus is similar or different to Wikipedia.

4 Wikipedia is an encyclopedia Digital Cyprus is not interested oly about subjects that are encyclopedic interest (and thus mostly historical), but also about contemporary issues. Serves as focal point for those interested in something to connect and get involved.
5 Wikipedia is not a school Digital Cyprus’ second most important goal is to contribute towards rendering the people of Cyprus technologically fit for the digital era. To achieve this, it introduces and teaches the basics of coding: to draft or edit a page, one has to use and learn MediaWiki’s markup language; a language that is easy for anyone.
6 Wikipedia is not a Directory, i.e., it does not aim complete coverage of a certain subject; focuses on the most important Digital Cyprus is in many respects a Directory; For example, it aims to gradually include all Cypriot words, or all Cypriot families, or all Cypriot ancient ruins, etc.

Also Digital Cyprus is not a newspaper. However, it still allows coverage of contemporary issues and it is also open to future spin off projects in that direction like for example within the Digital Tools for Democracy initiative.

Also Digital Cyprus is not an advertising platform, but like Wikipedia it will promote its supporters in different ways; Simply because Cyprus is very small, promotion through mentioning and highlighting in certain sections may in some cases be perceived as advertising.
