Καταναλώνονται ως γλυκό ή με καρύδια.<br /> <br /> <br /> __TOC__<br /> <br /> ==Γλωσσικές παρατηρήσεις==<br /> Πήραν το όνομά τους από την περιοχή, στην οποία κυρίως παράγονται. <br /> <br /> Οι Μαξίλλες πήραν το όνομά τους από τη λατινική λέξη “μαξίλλα” που σημαίνει “πρώιμο σύκο”. Επίσης, η ονομασία “μαξίλλες” σημαίνει παστό/πρώιμο σύκο και προέρχεται από τη λατινική λέξη “macilentus” που σημαίνει ισχνός.<br /> <br /> ==Μέθοδος Παραγωγής== <br /> Τα σύκα, ενώ βρίσκονται στο δέντρο, αλείφονται στη μύτη με ελαιόλαδο που εμποτίζεται σε βαμβάκι, το οποίο είναι στερεωμένο στην άκρη καλαμιού με σκοπό την ωρίμανση πολλών καρπών ταυτόχρονα. Σε 7 περίπου μέρες, ο καρπός ωριμάζει και γίνεται η συγκομιδή. Τα σύκα απλώνονται στο έδαφος σε “νύσιους” (βελόνες των πεύκων) για 1-2 μέρες μέχρι να μαραθούν. Κόβονται στη μέση (χωρίς να διαχωριστούν) και αφήνονται για άλλες 3-4 μέρες για να “παστελλώσουν” (αποξηρανθούν).
