The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) is a non-governmental organization founded in 2003 in Nicosia, Cyprus, by a group of educators and researchers from across the island’s divided communities. AHDR’s mission is to promote a critical, multiperspective, and inclusive approach to history as a tool for dialogue, mutual understanding, and reconciliation.
Committed to creating open learning spaces, AHDR develops educational resources, organizes teacher trainings, seminars, conferences, and bicommunal educational projects. It aims to strengthen critical thinking, tolerance, and a culture of dialogue while challenging divisive historical narratives.
Based in the UN Buffer Zone in Nicosia, AHDR is also the founding organization behind the Home for Cooperation, an intercommunal cultural center that has become a powerful symbol of peaceful coexistence in Cyprus. Its work is internationally recognized for its contribution to peace education and conflict transformation.
