Documented by peace initiatives in Cyprus

UniteCyprusNow is an independent citizens’ initiative that emerged in 2017 following the failure of peace negotiations on the reunification of Cyprus in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. The movement arose spontaneously through the commitment of activists from both Greek and Turkish Cypriot civil society. It does not have a single founder but operates with a horizontal structure, without formal hierarchy, and makes decisions by consensus within a group known as the “hub.”

One of its most active members is Andromachi Sophocleous, a political analyst and peace activist who also serves as co-vice president of Volt Cyprus, a pan-European political party. She plays a key role in the organization and embodies the movement’s commitment to a more inclusive and cooperative society.

UniteCyprusNow works toward the reunification of the island by promoting dialogue, intercommunal cooperation, and lasting peace between the island’s two main communities. Its activities include peaceful demonstrations, awareness campaigns, and public events aimed at fostering mutual understanding and encouraging a federal solution to the Cyprus conflict.
